What is a Shubh Muhurat?
A Shubh Muhurat is an auspicious time window for starting something new. In astrology, the alignment of the planets creates different types of energy throughout the day.
Some hours are filled with heavy, resistant energy. Other hours have clear, supportive energy. When you choose a Shubh Muhurat, you are choosing the path of least resistance. You start your task when the universe is already moving in the direction you want to go.
The Science of Perfect Timing
Finding a good Muhurat is a strict mathematical process. It is not just about picking a random "lucky" day.
First, we calculate the exact sunrise and sunset for your specific city using the highly accurate Swiss Ephemeris. This step is critical because all planetary hours begin from the local sunrise. A Muhurat in New York will be completely different from a Muhurat in London on the exact same day.
Once we have the local sunrise, we divide the day into specific time windows. We filter out the bad windows, like Yamaganda or Rahu Kaal, and show you only the clean, safe times that are left.
Understanding Choghadiya
The most common way to divide the day is using the Choghadiya system. A "Choghadiya" is a time window that lasts for about 90 minutes. There are seven types of Choghadiya, and they cycle throughout the day and night.
The Good Windows (Favorable)
- Amrit (Nectar): The absolute best time for anything. Good for all types of work.
- Shubh (Auspicious): Great for marriages, ceremonies, and buying valuable items.
- Labh (Gain): The best time for starting a business, investing money, or signing a contract.
- Char (Mobile): Perfect for travel, buying a vehicle, or moving into a new house.
The Bad Windows (Inauspicious)
- Udveg (Anxiety): Avoid starting important tasks. Bad for mental peace.
- Kaal (Loss): Avoid all financial transactions or major life decisions.
- Rog (Disease): Never schedule a surgery or start a medical treatment during this window.
Different Events Need Different Energies
A common mistake is thinking that a "good" day is good for everything. This is false. Different actions require completely different planetary energies.
For example, if you are getting married, you want stability and permanence. You need a day with a "fixed" Nakshatra (like Rohini or Uttara Phalguni). You do not want movement.
But if you are buying a car, you want movement. You need a day with a "movable" Nakshatra (like Swati or Punarvasu). If you buy a car on a "fixed" day, the car will sit in the garage and rarely be used.
